“I want to make my village open defecation free and promote better health for women.”

Her Fellowship goal is to solve multiple problems that women face, especially around health, nutrition, sanitation, including lack of toilets, and then the lack of access to entitlements from government schemes. Specifically, she wants to counsel and make at least 200 families to build toilets in their homes.

Chingutai Jadhav is a visionary from Medsinga, Osmanabad. She believes that happiness is the measure of success in life. Her wish is simple. She wants all women, in fact everybody, to lead happy lives.

Chingutai’s calm and peaceful demeanor belies a past that is harsher than one can imagine. Her husband left her very early in their marriage. Since then, she has been staying with her parents and brother. Such a harsh past did not scar her. Instead it inspired her to encourage women to live meaningful lives by becoming financially independent.

Chingutai was in a state of penury as she was staying with her parents with no income or any form of financial support. However, once she joined the SSP’s Self-Help Group (SHG), she started meeting other women, began earning enough, and slowly graduated to help other women lead meaningful lives.

Chigutai’s Fellowship goal is to solve multiple problems that women face, especially around health, nutrition, sanitation, including lack of toilets, and then the lack of access to entitlements from government schemes. Specifically, she wants to counsel and influence at least 200 families to build toilets in their homes. Women’s health is a topic close to her heart; she wants women to focus on their health, and go for regular health checkups. Since cancer is becoming so common, Chingutai wants women to be undergo regular checkups for that too.
