  • 2015: Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP) was awarded the 6th mBillionth South Asia Award 2015 under the M-Health Category on July 23 2015, New Delhi, India out of 320 total applications under 11 categories from 8 countries across South Asia.  The award is for SSP’s technology enabled project being implemented in partnership with Sofomo Embedded Solutions Pvt.Ltd for “Arogya Sakhi: Delivering Preventive Healthcare at the Doorstep - Empowering women as Arogya Sakhis/ Health Entrepreneurs.”
  • 2014: SSP was awarded at the Vodafone Mobile for Good award 2014 for the Arogya Sakhi Program - Delivering preventive healthcare services at the doorstep by women health entrepreneurs
  • 2014: SSP has won the Best Innovation: Rural Energy Sector awarded by the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS) at the Bihar Innovation Forum (BIF) on 31st January, 2014.
  • 2014: SSP has won the Best Innovation: Social Entrepreneurship and Inclusive Business Models, awarded by the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) at the Maharashtra Rural Livelihoods Innovation Forum (MRLIF) on 27th January, 2014.
  • 2014: Ms. Prema Gopalan was honored with the prestigious Assocham Ladies League ALL Grassroots Women of the Decade Achievers Award from Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty alleviation, for setting-up the institution ‘Swayam Shikshan Prayog’, which has given massive support during earthquakes and natural calamities, assisting in the rebuilding processes. An exemplary social activist, been actively involved in disaster rehabilitation projects for the last 15 years.
  • 2014: Prema was the panel speaker at the Bank of Ideas and Innovations (BII) forum launched by NRLM, Govt of India on August 14, 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. A website of BII was launched in the presence of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
  • 2014: Prema has been selected as a Senior Fellow of Synergos in 2014.The Senior Fellows program links extraordinary civil society leaders in a worldwide learning, service and action network. The network aims to strengthen the capacity and opportunities for these leaders to be catalysts and play a major role in partnerships that address the systemic causes of poverty and promote sustainable social change.
  • 2014: Prema has been selected as the Ashoka Globalizer member
  • 2013 April 17: SURE received the Sankalp Global cook stove Alliance Award for Innovation in Clean Cooking Solutions. Cash prize of USD 15,000 and have qualified for the larger global cook stove alliance funding.

  • 2013: Spirit of Humanity Awards 2012 by AmeriCares India.SSP has been shortlisted in the Women’s Health category for the Spirit of Humanity Awards 2012 by the AmeriCares India and has got Certificate of Merit Award in recognition of outstanding contribution towards healthcare for society.
  • 2012: wPOWER grant by USAID/India for SSP and is committed to empower over 1000 women entrepreneurs until 2015, to launch small businesses around innovative clean technologies in Maharashtra and Bihar
  • 2012: Social Impact Karmayogini Award by Maharashtra Economic Development Council. SSP has been the 1st Runner Up for the Award. The Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) and American Alumni Association (AAA) took a huge step forward in recognizing the women of Maharashtra. The Award was presented to the winners by Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 6th March, 2012.
  • 2012: EdelGive Social Innovation Honors 2012 by Edelweiss Financial Services Limited.SSP was the runner up for the Category of Economic Security and Livelihoods for the EdelGive Social Innovation Honors 2012. We have been shortlisted from the applications received from over 250 NGOs in India.
  • 2008: SSP is one of the three Award Winners of Changemakers Competition 2008 by Global Water Challenge (GWC) for the Innovation `Small Steps, Big Leaps: Community Led Approach to Water and Sanitation’ selected from 265 entries from 54 countries.
  • 2008: Finalist for the Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award of the Khemka Foundation with UNDP and Schwab selected from 140 entries in India.
  • 2007: Recipient of the Mary Fran Myers Gender and Disaster Award as an expert in community driven, gender equitable disaster response & resilience initiatives.
  • 2007: Marico Innovation for India Award 2007-08. SSP’s application has been short listed as one of 25 entries for the 3rd stage out of 240 entries across the country across the business and social categories for the Marico Innovation for India Award 2007-08. The award aimed to recognize the greatest innovations to come out of India in the recent past - innovations that have positively impacted our lives and have at their core a great idea coupled with a unique insight
  • 2006: Late C.K. Prahalad and team from Harvard University select SSP / SURE for co – creation in BOP market with BP Energy selected SSP / SURE for co – creation in BOP market with BP Energy.
  • 2005: Nominated to the Advisory Panel of IED Independent Evaluation Division of the World Bank, Washington to critically examine and provide recommendations from evaluation findings of disaster response projects for last twenty years.
  • 2000: Selected as Ashoka Fellow. Ashoka Fellows are leading social entrepreneurs who we recognize to have innovative solutions to social problems and the potential to change patterns across society. Ashoka Fellows work in over 60 countries around the globe in every area of human need.
  • 1998: Award for recognition for the excellent work for the Community Participation in the Earthquake Disaster Project, Instituted by the Government of Maharashtra supported by the World Bank, DFID, UNDP etc.
